How it actually works
Two ways to be part of this. Both matter.
🛒
When you buy something here

Every purchase on the site keeps this thing running — the servers, the streams, the tools, the time. That's honest and we won't dress it up. We do profit from sales. That's how the lights stay on.

But it doesn't stop there. A portion of every sale goes directly back to the community. So when you buy here, you're not just getting something — you're also building something for the people around you. That's real, and it happens with every order.

Keeps the lights on · Portion of every sale → community
💚
When you donate to the Give Back fund

This is different. After payment processors take their cut (more on that below — we hate it too), every single dollar that reaches us goes directly to the community. No salaries pulled from it. No overhead on our end. No detours.

Every single quarter, we publish a detailed, itemized breakdown — not a vague summary — of exactly where every dollar went, what it built, and who it reached. You'll always know. You'll never have to ask.

And if at any point you don't like what we're doing with your money — for any reason, no explanation needed — we will refund 100% of whatever is still in the fund unused. Dollars already put to work in the community can't come back (a meal has been eaten, a bill has been paid, a person has been helped — we wouldn't undo that even if we could). But everything not yet spent is yours on request. Go put it to work your way. We mean that.

Every dollar after fees → community · Quarterly reports · Unused funds refundable anytime
both paths go to the same place — the people

A note about S.O.G.'s status

S.O.G. International is a Florida nonprofit corporation that has applied for federal 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status. Recognition is currently pending IRS determination. Until the determination letter is issued, donations to S.O.G. are not yet tax-deductible.

If recognition is granted, donations made during the application window may become retroactively deductible — but we can't promise that outcome. Talk to a tax professional for your specific situation before assuming a deduction.

S.O.G.'s charitable solicitation status with the Florida Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services (FDACS) is also being addressed as part of standard nonprofit formation. We'll update this notice as the org's official status changes.

The why behind all of it
"I've always believed that if you're good at something — truly good — then you owe something back. Not because you have to. Because you get to."

Poker taught me a word that nobody talks about: reciprocality. The idea that over time, the cards even out. You'll get the aces. Your opponent will get the kings. The money flows in circles between people who trust each other enough to sit at the same table.

That's not just poker. That's life. Communities work the same way. When someone in your neighborhood thrives, it comes back around. When someone at the table is having the time of their life, the whole game feels better. We rise together or not at all.

The sharks took that away from poker. The rake, the greed, the cold-blooded hunt for profit — they turned a beautiful, circular, joyful game into something predatory. We're here to take it back. And not just for poker players. For everyone who ever sat at a table, in any room, in any game, just trying to have a good time with good people.

When you buy something here, you're keeping something real alive. We profit from it — that's how we stay in the game. But a portion of every sale goes back to the community, always. Buying here isn't just a transaction. It's a small act of giving, too. When you donate to the Give Back fund, it's something else entirely — every single dollar goes out the door to the people it's meant for. No salaries taken from it. No overhead pulled from it. No detours. To community events. To local games with no rake. To people and places that need a little more joy in their corner. Quarterly, you'll see exactly where every dollar landed. That's the promise. That's the whole point.

The bigger picture
We're not just saving poker.
We're taking care of each other.

"I believe in something greater than all of us. I don't claim to know its name — and honestly, I'm not sure any of us do. But I think every faith, every tradition, every prayer ever whispered into the dark is pointing at the same thing. We're all just describing something so vast, so magnificent, that every language falls a little short. And maybe — just maybe — we're all right."

At some point in time — one point, one moment — everything that has ever lived began. And from that single point, we all branched out. Our bodies adapted to our surroundings. Our skin, our features, our languages, our gods — all shaped by where we landed on this earth. But underneath every single difference, we want the same things. To be loved. To be safe. To matter to someone. To have a hand reach out for us in our darkest moment.

Here's the thing nobody tells you: being there for someone is not a burden. It's a gift. The moment you extend your hand to someone who needs it — truly needs it — you will feel something that no amount of money, no pot you've ever won, no hand you've ever played will ever match. That feeling? That's the real currency. That's what this is all about.

Think about your toughest moment. The lowest you've ever felt. What did you hope for? You hoped someone would show up. You hoped someone would reach out. You hoped you weren't alone. That hope is a moral obligation in reverse. When someone else is in that moment — and they will be — you already know what they need. You've felt it. Now you get to be the answer to that prayer.

Every tradition, every scripture, every teaching that has ever tried to explain the divine — what's the one thing they all agree on? Love. Not the easy kind. The kind that shows up. The kind that gives without keeping score. The kind that sees a stranger and recognizes a brother, a sister, a reflection of themselves. That's not religion. That's just truth.

"Love is the most important currency in the world."
And even the God everyone speaks of — what matters most to Him?

This website sells collectibles. It hosts poker games. It teaches strategy. But underneath all of that — this website exists to do something meaningful. To prove that a business can be built on generosity. That a community can be built on joy. That a card game can be the reason a neighborhood gets a little better, a family gets a little more support, a stranger feels a little less alone. We don't need to change the world all at once. We just need to take care of the table in front of us — and trust that love, like those cards, always comes back around.

⚠ The Honest Truth About Your Money

100% of your donation does NOT reach S.O.G.
And if you change your mind, you won't get 100% back either. Here's why — and here's our promise to you.

The first cut — processing fees: PayPal, Stripe, and every major payment processor still charge transaction fees on charitable donations — even when the recipient is a 501(c)(3) charity. Rates are sometimes reduced for recognized charities, but they are never zero. They always take their cut.

We believe this is fundamentally wrong. These companies are essentially profiting off of charity — charging the very organizations trying to feed people, house people, and lift communities up, just for the privilege of processing a gift. That 30¢ could have been a meal for a kid. That $1 could have helped someone keep the lights on one more night. Instead, it slides into a corporate pocket before it ever reaches the people it was meant for. Over thousands of donations, those tiny fees add up to real money that could have fed, clothed, or housed real people. They can run their businesses however they please. So can we — and we run ours on honesty.

What happens to the rest: whatever clears the processor, we move fast. Your dollars get deployed into the community — meals, game nights, recovery support, emergency help, neighborhood initiatives — sometimes within days. Your money doesn't sit in a vault waiting. It goes to work. That's the whole point.

And if you change your mind — the refund promise: we do not hold your money hostage. If at any point you decide we're not the right home for your generosity — if the initiatives we're funding don't resonate with you, if you think another cause could do more with it, if you just want to put your dollars somewhere that speaks louder to your heart — we will refund 100% of whatever is still in the fund unused.

☘ What is still in the fund → Yours, on request. Any of your contributions that have not yet been spent come straight back to you.

⚠ What has already been spent → We cannot return this. If your contribution has already fed a family, paid a bill, funded a game night, or helped someone in crisis, it's already out there doing its job. A meal has been eaten. A light has stayed on. A person has been helped. We cannot un-help them — and we wouldn't want to.

This is your money. We are simply honored stewards for as long as you allow. If our mission stops aligning with your values, we would rather you redirect your generosity somewhere better for you than stay with us out of guilt or inertia. Good causes compete for good people — we respect that. Give freely. Leave freely.

To request a refund of unused funds, email support@lifesagambol.com or reach out through our contact page. No arguments. No guilt. No hoops. We'll review the fund balance, calculate what remains of your contributions, and return it as fast as the processors allow.

And if you know a payment processor that will truly process donations free of charge for a small charitable operation or a charitable partner like S.O.G. — please reach out to us immediately. Every saved cent goes exactly where it was meant to go: to the community. We are always looking for help.

Thank you for giving despite the cut they take. ☘
Your heart still gets through. That's what matters.

A Different Kind of Give Back
What If You Don’t Have a Penny?

Good. You might be exactly who we need most.

There’s a story told in the Christian Bible about a poor widow who walked into the temple and dropped two small copper coins into the offering box. That’s it. Two coins. Barely enough to buy a crumb of bread. Meanwhile, wealthy people were tossing in bags of gold, making sure everyone saw how generous they were.

Jesus looked at that widow and said to his disciples: “This poor widow has put in more than all the others. They gave out of their wealth. She gave out of her poverty — everything she had.”

Why did her two coins matter more than bags of gold?

Because God didn’t create money. People did. God created you. Your hands. Your mind. Your heart. Your ability to show up, to care, to act, to build, to heal, to listen, to create. Those are the real currencies. The ones that actually change the world. The ones no amount of money can buy.

Intelligence, knowledge, and the ability to use them responsibly to do what’s right — that is something money cannot buy. No amount of success can purchase it. In fact, here’s the strange truth: sometimes the more success you gain, the worse you feel. Sometimes extreme success costs you your empathy. Sometimes climbing to the top means losing your way to the truth. Believe it or not, the people who “lost” the competition might be closer to God than the ones who “won.”

So if you don’t have currency — if you didn’t find a way to win this competition we’ve created for ourselves — that does not mean you are worth less. It means you are beautiful. It means you kept your heart in a system designed to take it from you. God loves you. Everyone in this community loves you. And we are all a team — a team of soldiers, you could say — fighting for the greater good.

You can give back with effort. With your time. With your skills. With your presence. With the thing that makes you you. These kinds of contributions — the ones that don’t cost a dime — often make a bigger impact than anything you could ever buy.

After all, we’re poker players.

You know what it takes to sit at a table every day and survive? You know the mental fortitude, the discipline, the emotional resilience required to play this game for a living? Most people couldn’t handle one bad beat. You handle hundreds. Thousands. You get knocked down and you sit back in that chair and you play the next hand.

Remember David and Goliath? A shepherd boy with a sling and five smooth stones stood in front of a giant that made grown soldiers run and hide. Everyone told him he was too small. Too young. Too unqualified. He didn’t care. He picked up his stones and he walked forward.

That’s you. Every time you sit at a table short-stacked. Every time life deals you a bad hand and you play it anyway. Every time someone tells you that you can’t, and you do. You are David. You have always been David. And you are a lot stronger than you give yourself credit for.

So let’s gain true value together. Not chip value — real value. The kind that lasts longer than any tournament, any cash session, any bankroll.

Let’s play right. Let’s gain fold equity by never giving up and fighting tooth and nail for every pot — and for every lost soul. Let’s gain true EV together. Expected value isn’t just a math equation. It’s a life equation. And the highest EV play you will ever make is giving a piece of yourself to someone who needs it.

Find your seat at the table ☘

No money required. Just heart.

The Gambol Promise

No executive salaries. No vanity projects. No hidden fees from us. After payment processors take their cut, every single dollar that reaches us goes directly to the people and causes it's meant for. Every quarter, we publish a detailed breakdown — not a vague summary, a real one — of exactly where every dollar went and what it built. You'll always know what your support actually did.

We're not a charity trying to look good. We're a community trying to do good. There's a difference. You deserve to see it in action, every single quarter, without having to ask for it.

And if you ever decide you don't like what we're doing with your money — for any reason, no explanation needed — we will refund 100% of whatever is still in the fund unused. Dollars already put to work in the community can't come back (they've already fed, housed, or helped someone — we wouldn't undo that even if we could). But everything not yet spent is yours on request. Go put your money where your heart leads you. That's not fine print. That's the table stakes. We don't play any other way.

Frequently asked questions

The questions visitors ask most often.

What is the Lifes a Gambol Give Back program?

Lifes a Gambol commits 10% of every dollar that comes in through the brand to S.O.G., a partner organization doing direct community work. That 10% is real and tracked — apparel sales, sponsorships, partnerships, donations, all of it. We publish where the money goes and what it funded.

Who is S.O.G.?

S.O.G. is the partner organization on the receiving end of our 10%. Their programs span recovery support, community meals, mentoring and education, and unity work — broad community service. They're our give-back partner because their work is hands-on, accountable, and aligned with our belief that 10% of any commerce should flow back to the communities it serves.

Is my purchase from Lifes a Gambol tax-deductible?

No. Lifes a Gambol is a for-profit business; your purchase is a regular consumer transaction, not a charitable donation.

S.O.G. has applied for federal 501(c)(3) status, but recognition is currently pending IRS determination. Until that determination letter is issued, donations to S.O.G. are not yet tax-deductible, regardless of who makes them or how they're routed. If your application is approved, donations made during the application window may become retroactively deductible — but we can't promise that outcome, and you should consult a tax professional for your specific situation.

Where can I see proof that the 10% is actually being given?

We publish quarterly transparency updates on this page showing total revenue contributing to the give-back, the dollar amount sent to S.O.G., and what S.O.G. funded with it. Audited annually. If you ever can't find a quarter's report, ask us — we'll send the receipts.

Can I donate directly to S.O.G. without going through Lifes a Gambol?

Absolutely, and we encourage direct generosity for anyone who can give more than what our 10% covers. Our give-back is meant to be a baseline contribution that comes with every brand interaction — not a replacement for direct support from people who want to give more.

Note on tax treatment: S.O.G.'s 501(c)(3) application is currently pending. Donations made today are not yet tax-deductible. They may become retroactively deductible if recognition is granted, but no promises — talk to a tax pro about your situation before assuming.

What other ways can I support the give-back mission?

Buy a shirt, share our content, show up to a meetup, volunteer your skills through our Help Out program, or just tell people what we're doing. Word of mouth is the most underrated form of giving.
