We Need You
Your gifts. Your abilities. Your intelligence. Your strength. The things that make you you. Those are worth more than any dollar amount.
Don't choose something on this list that you don't enjoy doing. Choose the thing you already love doing. The thing you'd do for free. The thing your friends say you're annoyingly good at. The thing that doesn't feel like work because it's just who you are.
That's your gift. And your gift, used in service of something bigger than yourself, is the most valuable currency on earth.
No training required. No experience necessary. No résumé. Just heart.
"The best of people are those who are most beneficial to others."— Prophet Muhammad ﷺ
Event Support
You know who you are. You're the person your friends call when they need something organized. You make lists. You show up early. You stay late. You're the reason anything actually happens. We need that. Not your money — your magic.
This Is Me — Let Me Help ☘Social Media & Content
You notice the light hitting someone's face. You hear a story and think 'people need to hear this.' You take photos of your food, your dog, your sunset — and somehow they look better than everyone else's. That eye you have? It tells stories. Our stories need telling.
This Is Me — Let Me Help ☘Design & Creative
You doodle on napkins. You rearrange your living room for fun. You have opinions about color palettes. You see something ugly and your brain automatically redesigns it. That instinct — that urge to make things look right, feel right, be right — that's a gift. Bring it here.
This Is Me — Let Me Help ☘Mentoring & Teaching
Somewhere along the way, you learned something that changed how you see the world. Maybe it was poker strategy. Maybe it was how to manage money. Maybe it was how to survive a bad beat — at the table or in life. Whatever it is, someone out there desperately needs to hear it from someone who's lived it. That someone is you.
This Is Me — Let Me Help ☘Community Outreach
You're the connector. The one who introduces two strangers and somehow they become best friends. You know someone everywhere you go. You remember names, stories, details. You ask 'how's your mom doing?' and mean it. That relational intelligence — the ability to genuinely care about human beings — is the rarest skill on earth.
This Is Me — Let Me Help ☘Tech & Web Development
Your family calls you when their printer doesn't work. You've fixed a WiFi router at 11pm on a Saturday. You know what HTML stands for and you're not embarrassed about it. The digital world makes sense to you in a way it doesn't for most people. That's not nerdy — that's powerful.
This Is Me — Let Me Help ☘Hospitality & Food
You cook. Or you bake. Or you just know how to make a room feel warm when you walk into it. You bring food to funerals without being asked. You make extra portions because 'someone might be hungry.' Community begins at the table. You already know this.
This Is Me — Let Me Help ☘Professional Skills
You spent years learning something. Law. Accounting. Marketing. Real estate. Medicine. Whatever it is, people pay good money for what you know. One hour of your expertise, given freely, can change the trajectory of someone's entire life.
This Is Me — Let Me Help ☘Advocacy & Awareness
You share things online that matter to you. You talk about what you believe in at dinner tables and barbershops and break rooms. You're the friend who sends articles in the group chat and says 'y'all need to read this.' That impulse to spread truth — that's advocacy. And it costs absolutely nothing.
This Is Me — Let Me Help ☘Just Show Up
You don't cook. You can't design. You don't know HTML from a BLT. You're not a professional anything. You're just... you. And here's the secret: your presence — just you, being there, being real, being human — is more valuable than every skill on this page combined.
This Is Me — Let Me Help ☘Transportation & Rides
You know what it's like to need a ride and not have one. The doctor's appointment you can't get to. The job interview across town. The event you'd love to attend but can't because the bus doesn't run that late. You have a car. You have time. You have no idea how much a thirty-minute drive can change someone's entire week.
This Is Me — Let Me Help ☘Translation & Cultural Bridge
You grew up hearing two languages at the dinner table. Or you learned one in school and actually kept it. Or you came to this country speaking something other than English and figured it out. Either way, you carry two worlds inside you. That makes you a bridge. And bridges connect people who would otherwise never meet.
This Is Me — Let Me Help ☘Music & Entertainment
You play guitar in your bedroom. You sing in the shower and your roommate doesn't complain. You DJ your friend's parties. You know how to read a room and play the right song at the right moment. Music isn't a luxury — it's how human beings remember they have souls. If you can make that happen, we need you.
This Is Me — Let Me Help ☘Handy Work & Physical Labor
You're the person people call when something breaks. You own tools and you know how to use them. You've fixed a leaky faucet, patched drywall, assembled furniture from instructions that made no sense, and somehow it all held together. Your hands build things. Your strength moves things. And there is always something that needs building or moving.
This Is Me — Let Me Help ☘Recovery & Life Experience
You've struggled with addiction, depression, loss, homelessness, abuse, or something else that nearly broke you. And you're still here. That survival is not just personal — it's medicine. Because somewhere out there, right now, someone is in the exact place you used to be. And they need to see a living, breathing human who made it through. You are that proof.
This Is Me — Let Me Help ☘Childcare & Youth Support
Kids light up around you. You don't talk down to them. You play with them like it matters — because it does. You remember what it was like to be young and confused and full of energy that nobody knew what to do with. Parents trust you. Kids trust you. That trust is not small. It takes a village, and you're part of the village.
This Is Me — Let Me Help ☘Gardening & Growing Food
You have dirt under your fingernails and you're not apologizing for it. You know what a tomato is supposed to taste like — the real kind, not the supermarket kind. You understand that putting a seed in the ground and watching it become food is basically a miracle happening in slow motion. And you know that teaching someone to grow their own food is teaching them freedom.
This Is Me — Let Me Help ☘Emotional Support & Listening
People tell you things they don't tell anyone else. You don't know why exactly — maybe you have a face that says 'I won't judge you.' Maybe you're just genuinely curious about people. Maybe you've been through enough that nothing shocks you anymore. Whatever it is, you hold space. You listen without fixing. You're present without performing. That's a rare and sacred gift.
This Is Me — Let Me Help ☘Prayer & Spiritual Support
You don't have to be a priest, an imam, a rabbi, or a monk. You don't have to belong to any tradition at all. But you know how to get quiet. You know how to ask for help from something bigger than yourself. You know how to hold someone in your thoughts with intention and love. Whether you call it prayer, meditation, good vibes, or just thinking about someone really hard — it matters. It works. We need it.
This Is Me — Let Me Help ☘Housing & Shelter Support
You have a roof over your head and space you're not using. A guest room. A couch. A garage that could be cleaned out. Or just a warm kitchen table where someone could sit for an hour and feel safe. Housing insecurity is one of the biggest crises in our community, and sometimes the difference between someone making it and not making it is one night indoors.
This Is Me — Let Me Help ☘Fitness & Wellness
You work out. Or you walk. Or you do yoga in your living room. Or you just know that your body feels better when you move it and worse when you don't. You've learned to listen to your body instead of ignoring it. That awareness — that relationship with your own physical self — is something a lot of people have completely lost. You can help them find it again.
This Is Me — Let Me Help ☘Animal Care & Therapy
Your dog is your best friend and you're not embarrassed to say it. You stop to pet every dog on the sidewalk. You've rescued an animal, fostered a kitten, or just been the person who feeds the stray cat in the parking lot. Animals heal people in ways that medicine and therapy can't always reach. If you have an animal and a willingness to share them, you have a gift that unlocks hearts.
This Is Me — Let Me Help ☘Financial Literacy & Money Skills
You know how to budget. You understand credit scores. You know the difference between a Roth IRA and a traditional one, and you can explain it without making someone's eyes glaze over. Financial illiteracy keeps good people trapped in bad situations. What you know — the stuff that seems obvious to you — is life-changing information for someone who was never taught.

"Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me."— Jesus, Matthew 25:40
Frequently asked questions
The questions visitors ask most often.
What does it mean to 'help out' with Lifes a Gambol?
Pledging your skills, time, or presence — not money — to support the community and the give-back mission. There are 23 specific ways to help (everything from tech to translation to just showing up), each on its own page with details. Pick what fits you.
Is helping out the same as volunteering?
Functionally yes. We use 'help out' instead of 'volunteer' because volunteer feels formal — like committee meetings and time sheets. Helping out is what friends do for each other. Same outcome, different feel.
Do I need to commit to a schedule?
No. When you pledge, you tell us your real availability — weekends only, evenings, one-time events, fully remote, whatever. We match opportunities accordingly. Pledging your name doesn't lock you into anything.
Are there volunteer roles for people outside South Florida?
Yes — many. Tech, design, content, social media, language translation, and outreach roles are largely remote. About a third of our active volunteers are outside South Florida and contribute online.
What if I'm not sure what role fits me?
Pick 'Just Show Up' — that's a real category. It's for people without a specific skill they're pledging, who just want to be a body in the room when the community needs hands. From there, you'll naturally find your niche.
Is there a minimum age to help out?
18+ for general volunteer roles. Family-friendly events welcome younger volunteers when accompanied by a parent who is also volunteering. Roles involving direct contact with minors require background-checked adults only.
