South Florida

A party at a card room.

Three simple steps. No buy-in from us, no fees to us, no fine print. The game is the casino's game — the same one that's there every other night of the week. We just bring the crowd and the branding.

1

We pick the night

We coordinate with a partner card room — date, time, stakes, and how many seats they can hold for us. We publish the schedule here and in our newsletter.

2

You RSVP

Click RSVP on any upcoming meetup. That helps the card room save seats for our group and lets you know who else is coming. RSVPs are free — so is showing up.

3

Show up and play

Tell the front desk you're with the Lifes a Gambol meetup. They'll get you seated. You buy in to the casino's game at the casino's stakes, and the casino runs it from there.

The card room runs the game. We run the vibe.

Lifes a Gambol is not a gambling operator. We don't host the table, we don't deal the cards, and we don't take a cut of the pot. The game you sit down to is the card room's standard cash game or tournament, under their gaming license, at their posted stakes and structure. Rake goes to the house, same as any other night at that room. We just coordinate the gathering, bring the community, and hand out some free stuff while we're at it.

◆ The Signature Feature ◆

Fight For Your Family.

A donated seat. A real shot. A swing for someone who needs it.

Every meetup, our charitable partner S.O.G. donates buy-ins for families in need. If you're one of the families nominated that night, you sit down with a full stack — the buy-in is already paid for — and you play the same game as everyone else at the table.

The cards are the casino's. The stakes are real. If you win, here's how it splits:

90% of your winnings go straight to you and your family. 10% goes back to S.O.G. to fund the next donated buy-in for the next family.

A concept created by S.O.G. A poker night turned into a family lifeline. One of the most meaningful things we get to be part of — and a big reason our meetups feel different.

Applied to winnings above the donated buy-in. Fight for your family — fight for the cause.

The biggest poker party of your life.

It's not just a game night. Free food on the table, free swag at the door, raffles nobody pays to enter, and the kind of energy that turns a Tuesday into a Saturday.

🎟️

Free community raffles

Every meetup runs a raffle that's free to enter. The headline prize is a free stake at one of our next meetups — a real buy-in, covered by us, no cost to you.

🍕

Free food

We keep the table fed. Pizza, wings, sliders, whatever's fitting for the room — something filling is always there so nobody's grinding on an empty stomach.

🎁

Free swag

Branded hats, shirts, card protectors, chip sets — we hand out Lifes a Gambol gear at every meetup. First to RSVP, first in line for the good stuff.

🏆

Prize giveaways

Side prizes throughout the night — best hand of the hour, biggest bluff, first bust-out, highest LAG-member finish. Little extras that keep the table alive.

Fight for your family. Fight for the cause.
And have a hell of a night while you're at it.

Shuffling the schedule...

Why play a meetup night?

The game's the same game the card room runs every night. What's different is everything around it.

🪑

Reserved seating

The card room holds tables for our group. No standing around at the waitlist podium for an hour — you have a spot.

🤝

A known crew

You sit down next to people from the community, not total strangers. Easier to show up solo when you already know a few faces.

🎁

Free swag & giveaways

Hats, card protectors, chips, shirts — we hand out branded gear at every meetup. Plus raffles and side prizes.

💵

No extra fees from us

RSVP is free. Swag is free. You pay the casino's normal buy-in or rake — that's the only money that changes hands.

📍

Real licensed card rooms

We only organize meetups at Florida-licensed card rooms. Legit gaming floors, legit security, legit chips.

📅

A reliable schedule

We publish dates weeks ahead so you can plan. Add the meetup to your calendar right from the RSVP flow.

Meetup FAQ

The questions people ask most before their first one.

Who runs the game?

The card room. It's their floor, their dealers, their chips, their gaming license. The game you sit down to is the standard cash game or tournament that card room runs every night — we're just adding our group to it.

Does Lifes a Gambol charge anything to attend?

No. RSVP is free and attending is free. Casinos charge rake on cash games and buy-in fees on tournaments — that's standard and it all goes to the house, not us. We don't take a cut and we don't add any fee on top.

Do I need to RSVP, or can I just show up?

You can walk in, but RSVPing helps a lot. The card room holds a block of seats for us, and an accurate headcount means they can stretch or shrink that block without leaving anyone waiting. Plus, RSVPing is how you get into the raffle and first dibs on the swag.

What's the buy-in? Do you set the stakes?

The buy-in and stakes are whatever the card room posts. We don't negotiate stakes or structure — we just pick a game the card room already runs on that night and bring the community to it. The meetup card shows exactly what you're walking into.

Is this a private game?

No. It's a public event at a public card room. Non-members will be at the same tables as us — that's one reason we love it. Good action, mixed field, and everyone's playing the same game under the same rules.

What if I'm new to the community?

Meetups are the easiest on-ramp. Look for the Lifes a Gambol table tent, flag down Lucky or whoever's wearing the ☘ shirt that night, and introduce yourself. You'll have a seat and someone to talk to within five minutes.

Age and ID requirements?

Whatever the card room requires — in Florida, that's 18+ for poker at most rooms, and 21+ for any other gambling. Bring a government ID. If the venue has stricter rules (some casino floors are 21+), we'll note it on the meetup card.

What is "Fight For Your Family"?

It's a concept created by our charitable partner, S.O.G. Families in need are nominated and S.O.G. donates the buy-in, so the family member gets a real seat at the casino's game with a full stack. The game is whatever the card room runs that night — the donation just covers the cost of sitting down.

If you win, 90% of your winnings go directly to you and your family; 10% goes back to S.O.G. to fund the next donated buy-in. A poker night turned into a family lifeline.

How do families get selected for a donated buy-in?

S.O.G. runs the nomination and selection process — it's their program, their fund, their decisions. Lifes a Gambol doesn't pick families or manage the donation pool. If you or someone you know should be considered, reach out to S.O.G. directly through the links on our Give Back page.

What about the community raffles?

At every meetup we raffle off free stakes (buy-ins) for upcoming meetups. Entering is free — anyone at the meetup gets in. Win one, and your seat at the next meetup is covered by us. No purchase required, no fine print. Just another way to keep people coming back to the table.

Is the free food and swag actually free?

Yes. We bring the food and the gear to every meetup and hand it out — there's no secret cost built into anything. RSVP early and you're more likely to snag the limited swag drops (hats, shirts, card protectors) before they're gone.

Can I bring a plus-one?

Absolutely. RSVP for both of you so we can tell the card room. They don't need to play — plenty of people come to hang at the bar and watch.

Frequently asked questions

The questions visitors ask most often.

Where are Lifes a Gambol meetups held?

Currently at licensed card rooms. We organize the gathering — getting our community to the table together — but the casino runs the actual game. We don't run private games or charge meetup fees.

Do I need to RSVP to attend a meetup?

Strongly preferred. RSVPs help us coordinate with the casino on table availability, save seats, and let us send you details (parking, dress code, what to expect). Walk-ups welcome too, but RSVPing means you're guaranteed a spot.

Is there a buy-in or fee to attend a meetup?

Lifes a Gambol charges nothing. The casino's normal buy-ins, rake, and tournament fees apply if you choose to play. Some meetups are pure social — no obligation to play. We make all of this clear in the event listing.

Are meetups beginner-friendly?

Yes — explicitly. Many of our meetups are designed for casual and beginner players. We label tournament difficulty in the listing. We host beginner-only events, low-stakes cash games, and 'come hang out, don't have to play' nights regularly.

Can I host a Lifes a Gambol meetup in a different city?

We'd love that. If you're outside South Florida and interested in organizing a Lifes a Gambol gathering at a card room near you, reach out through the Help Out form (Event Support category) — we'll talk you through how to do it well.

What should I bring to my first meetup?

Government ID (most card rooms require it), the buy-in amount in cash if you're planning to play, and an open attitude. That's it. You'll be welcomed by name, introduced around, and shown the ropes.
