Fish

An inexperienced or weak player — typically calling far too much, chasing draws at bad prices, and folding too rarely. Fish supply the money that skilled play extracts; game selection is largely the craft of finding tables that have them. The classic warning stands: scan the table for the fish, and if you cannot find one, it is you.

At the table

Three cold-calls preflop, then calling half-pot bets with a bare gutshot at terrible odds — every leak on display, every session quietly funding the table.

House note

Every table has a fish. If you’ve scanned twice and can’t find it, order a mirror.
