Grinder
A player who treats poker as steady work: high volume, disciplined game selection, strict bankroll management, and small consistent edges compounded over long hours. Grinders win through process rather than heroics — hourly rate is the scoreboard and variance is just the weather. Unglamorous, and reliably effective.
At the table
Six hours in, up two buy-ins, still taking notes on the new player in seat four. The session ends when the hourly says so, not when the ego does.
