GTO

Game Theory Optimal — a balanced strategy with mathematically correct ratios of value to bluffs and calls to folds, such that no opponent adjustment can exploit it. Modern solvers compute these strategies, and studying their output reveals baseline frequencies and sizings for common spots. In practice, GTO is the defensive foundation you learn so you know exactly how — and how far — to deviate when opponents make mistakes.

At the table

A solver bets this river with the nut flush and with A♠-high missed draws at a precise ratio, making the opponent’s bluff-catchers worth zero either way. That engineered indifference is the whole point.

House note

GTO is the fortress you learn to build so you know exactly when to leave it.
