Implied Odds

Pot odds extended into the future: today’s price plus the money you realistically expect to win on later streets when the draw hits. They justify calls the immediate price refuses — but only when the hidden hand will actually get paid off. Reverse implied odds are the dark side: hands that cost you extra precisely when they hit second-best.

At the table

Set-mining 4♠4♦ preflop is a 7.5-to-1 shot the direct price never covers. You call anyway because flopping the set can win a whole stack, not just the pot.

House note

Implied odds: betting on their inability to fold later. Usually a safe bet.
