Value Bet
A bet made expecting to be called by worse hands — the engine of long-run profit. The test is one question: when they call, do you win more often than not? Thin value — betting medium-strength hands that only slightly beat the calling range — is what separates good winners from great ones, and sizing should charge exactly what worse hands are willing to pay.
At the table
River board K♦9♠6♣2♥2♦, you hold K♣T♦. Worse kings, nines, and stubborn pocket pairs call a half-pot bet — checking leaves their money on the table.
