Speed Count Trainer
The classic countdown. A full deck is dealt as fast as you can take it; keep the running count and land on the deck’s known total — 0 for balanced systems, +4 for KO, +2 for Red 7. If you do not land there, an error slipped in. Crank the speed until you are counting at casino pace.
Bet 1 unit at true count 0 or below, then add a unit per true count, up to your spread cap.
How the Speed Count Trainer works
Speed counting is the oldest counting drill there is: deal yourself a full deck, count it down as fast as you can, and check that you land on the number a complete deck should total. For a balanced system that is exactly zero; for KO it is +4 and for Red 7 it is +2. Because the answer is fixed and known, this is a pure accuracy-under-pressure test — if you do not land on it, you made a mistake somewhere.
This trainer runs that drill with a timer. The whole deck flashes by at the speed you set; you hold the running count and enter it at the end. Every answer is graded against the same verified engine the rest of our tools use, and nothing is saved or sent anywhere — it all runs on your device.
How to use it, step by step
- Pick your system. Hi-Lo by default. The card-value strip shows what each rank is worth, so you can see the tags before you start.
- Set the flash speed. Open Options and choose how fast the cards come. Start slow enough to never lose the count.
- Run the deck. Press Start the deck. A full 52-card deck deals top to bottom while the timer runs. Keep the running count in your head — do not say it out loud.
- Enter your final count. When the deck runs out, the trainer asks for your final running count and tells you the time and whether you nailed the known total.
- Chase the number, then the clock. First make sure you always land on the right total. Only once you are accurate should you push the speed down toward a few seconds a deck.
What you get
- Full single-deck countdown — the time-tested way to build raw counting speed.
- Known target totals so every run is self-checking: 0 balanced, +4 KO, +2 Red 7.
- Live timer plus streak and accuracy, so you can watch yourself get faster.
- Adjustable flash speed from a relaxed pace down to casino-fast.
- Nine counting systems, each with its card values shown.
- Verified grading — the deck total is exact math, not an estimate.

Frequently asked questions
What players ask about the speed-count drill.
What is the speed count drill?
You deal a full single deck as fast as you can keep up, hold the running count, and enter it at the end. Because a complete deck has a known total, it is a pure test of how fast you can count without losing accuracy.
What should my final count be?
For a balanced system like Hi-Lo it should be exactly 0 — every plus card is cancelled by a minus card across a full deck. For KO it is +4 and for Red 7 it is +2, their built-in per-deck offsets. If you miss the number, an error slipped in.
Why count down a deck if the answer is always the same?
Because the value is the practice, not the result. Landing on the known total every time, faster and faster, is exactly the skill you need — it forces clean, automatic counting. The fixed answer is what makes it self-checking.
How fast should I get?
Strong counters can count down a deck in well under 30 seconds, many in the teens. Speed only matters once you are accurate, so chase the right total first and the clock second.
Does the counting system change the target?
Yes. Balanced systems total 0, KO totals +4, and Red 7 totals +2 over a full deck. The trainer knows each system’s target and grades against it.
Is counting cards illegal?
Counting in your head is not illegal anywhere in the United States — it is a mental skill, not a device. Casinos can still ask a suspected counter to stop or leave. Using a device to count at the table is illegal in most places.
