1. Information we collect
We collect information in three ways: what you give us directly, what we gather automatically when you use the site, and what we receive from third-party services you interact with through us.
Information you give us
- Account info — when you sign up, we collect your email address, chosen username, and password (which is hashed and managed by our authentication provider; we never see or store your plain-text password).
- Profile info — anything you add to your profile, such as a display name, phone number, location, bio, or avatar.
- Order info — when you place an order, we collect your shipping address, billing name, items ordered, order total, and any notes you include. Payment card details are collected and processed by PayPal, not by us.
- Custom services info — when you request custom design work, you provide project details, reference materials, brand assets, and anything else you share in the course of the project.
- Contact & support info — anything you send through our contact form or directly message us, including your name, email, and the content of the message.
- Forum & community content — the posts, comments, reactions, and private messages you create on our community forum.
- Event RSVPs — name, phone, email, and stake preference when you RSVP to a meetup.
- Newsletter sign-ups — email address when you subscribe to our newsletter.
Information collected automatically
- Device & usage info — IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring site, pages viewed, and timestamps.
- Cookies & similar tech — see the cookies section below.
- Cart contents — items you add to your cart are stored in your browser's local storage and, if you're signed in, synced to our database so you can pick up where you left off.
Information from third parties
- PayPal — when you check out, PayPal sends us your transaction ID, name, email address, and purchase amount so we can fulfill your order.
- Social logins — if we offer social sign-in in the future, we would receive the basic profile info you authorize (typically email and name).
2. How we use information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and maintain your account and community profile.
- Process and fulfill your orders, including shipping and customer support.
- Deliver custom design services you request and communicate with you about them.
- Operate the community forum, including moderation and abuse prevention.
- Send order confirmations, shipping notifications, and service-related emails.
- Send newsletters and marketing emails, if you've signed up (you can unsubscribe anytime).
- Improve and troubleshoot the site, and understand how visitors use it.
- Protect the site from fraud, abuse, and security threats.
- Comply with legal obligations (taxes, subpoenas, fraud investigations).
4. Cookies & tracking
Cookies are small files stored in your browser. We use them for three main things:
- Essential cookies — keep you signed in, remember your cart, and make the site work. These can't be turned off without breaking the site.
- Analytics cookies — help us understand how people use the site so we can improve it.
- Marketing cookies — if used in the future, would help us show relevant ads or measure campaign performance. We'll clearly disclose any marketing cookies when they're added.
You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings, but signing in, checkout, and cart persistence may not work without them. We also use local storage (similar to cookies) to save your cart and some preferences on your device.
5. Third-party services
We rely on a small set of trusted third parties. Each has its own privacy policy governing what they do with your data.
- Google Firebase — authentication (sign-in), database (user profiles, orders, forum posts), and file storage. Firebase privacy.
- PayPal — payment processing for all orders and donations. We never see your card number. PayPal privacy.
- Google Fonts — serves the fonts on our site. Google may log IP addresses of visitors requesting fonts.
- Shipping carriers — USPS, UPS, FedEx, or similar, depending on the order.
- Social media — if you click a social link (X, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, LinkedIn, Twitch, Reddit), you'll be subject to their privacy practices once you leave our site.
This list may change as we add or remove services. We'll update this page when it does.
6. How long we keep data
- Account info — kept while your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your profile and personal details, but retain order records as noted below.
- Order records — kept for up to 7 years to meet tax, accounting, and consumer-protection obligations, even if you delete your account.
- Custom design project files — kept for up to 2 years after project completion unless you request earlier deletion.
- Forum posts — remain on the forum after you delete your account, but are shown as "removed user." You can request full deletion of specific posts through the contact form.
- Analytics & logs — typically kept for 12-24 months, then aggregated or deleted.
7. Your rights & choices
You have the right to:
- Access — ask what information we have about you.
- Correct — update incorrect or incomplete information (you can do most of this yourself from your account page).
- Delete — ask us to delete your account and personal data. Some records may be retained as described in the "How long we keep data" section above.
- Export — request a copy of the data we hold about you in a common format.
- Unsubscribe — stop receiving marketing emails anytime by clicking the "unsubscribe" link in any marketing message. Order confirmations and service emails cannot be turned off while you have active orders.
- Object or restrict — tell us to stop certain kinds of processing.
To exercise any of these, use our contact form. We'll respond within 30 days.
8. How we protect your data
We use industry-standard security practices, including:
- HTTPS / SSL encryption on every page of the site.
- Password hashing and secure authentication through Firebase.
- PCI-compliant payment processing through PayPal (we never handle raw card numbers).
- Limited admin access — only authorized team members can view sensitive information.
- Regular security reviews of our code and infrastructure.
No system is 100% secure. If a breach ever affects your information, we'll notify you and any required authorities as the law requires.
9. Children & minors
We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 has submitted information to us — and especially if you believe a child under 13 has — please contact us and we'll delete it promptly.
10. California residents (CCPA)
If you live in California, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):
- The right to know what personal information we've collected about you.
- The right to request deletion of your personal information.
- The right to opt out of the sale of personal information — though we don't sell personal information.
- The right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
To exercise any California-specific right, use our contact form and include "CCPA Request" in your message.
11. Users outside the US
Lifes a Gambol operates from the United States. If you access the site from elsewhere, your information will be processed in the US, which may not have the same data-protection laws as your country. By using the site, you consent to that transfer.
We currently ship physical products primarily within the United States. International shipping, where offered, is handled case-by-case.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as our services or the law change. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page, and — for material changes — post a notice on the site or email you if we have your address. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated policy.
13. How to contact us
Questions, requests, or complaints about privacy? Reach us through the contact form and include "Privacy" in your message so it gets routed correctly. We'll respond within 30 days.
